the Thorn Jar

Boone Builds Treehouses

Featured project: The ThornJar is an off-grid, zero-penetration concept project hung in a thorny black Locust tree (Robinia pseudoacacia) in central Berlin. A balcony and cozy workshop composed predominantly of glass with a transparent roof for maximum canopy views and passive lighting, it is outfitted with a custom welded wood burning stove for heating and cooking, and is accessible only via a hidden trapdoor after freeclimbing the tree. Constructed almost entirely of salvaged materials, it currently serves as the artist’s urban studio.

Arboreal design and build. Elevated platforms and treehouses, from temporary-minimalist to multi-floor studio grade with off-grid amenities.
